Our Little Offering to the Lord

“St Joseph was given a vocation from the Father of being the husband of Mary and father of Jesus. Both of which he was inadequate to do. Instead of running from the call or trying to rely on his own strength, he offered his poverty to the Father as gift. The Father received his gift and poured out the Spirit within Him in order to fulfill his vocation within Joseph. Joseph led the Holy family by contemplating the Father - in an act of self gift and receptivity. We, too, have been given a call beyond ourselves. Felling the burden of the call, we often run from it or try to rely on our own strength - either way it crushes us. The Lord gives us, St Joseph, as a model and patron of living in the strength of the Father. Offering our poverty to Him that He will fill us with Himself.” - Fr Andrew Merrick

Traditional symbols merge seamlessly with artistic innovation in this piece: the lilies represent purity and divine selection, while the doves echo the spiritual nature of Joseph's calling. His contemplative expression captures the moment of accepting his extraordinary vocation - a meditation on the mystery of divine providence.

This painting captures the profound spiritual essence of St. Joseph in a moment of divine contemplation. Set against a luminous sunset sky, the composition speaks to both earthly humility and heavenly glory. The saint is depicted in rich burgundy and ochre robes, holding the pure white lilies that symbolize his chastity and righteousness.

This portrayal serves as a powerful reminder of St. Joseph's role as protector of the Holy Family and patron of the Universal Church. It beautifully illustrates the priest's meditation on Joseph's surrender to divine will.

Available in various sizes, this artwork invites viewers to contemplate their own calling and the transformative power of trusting in divine providence.
